Lost Guy Found!

Now we know where Mike ran off to!
(Due to unforeseen complications with his original blog, he had to make a change).
Glad you're still writing, Mike! :-)

How To Be More Politically Correct

This was in my e-mail today - gave me a grin, so I thought I'd share it:

Now that's my kind of political correctness! ;-p

Where'd Mike Go???

Does anyone know where Random Ramblings moved to??? I went to visit today, and got the dreaded "Blogger: 404 - Page Not Found" message. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Midwest Hick Mike, where are you?! I know I've been away a while, but I still like to read my favorite guys: Guyk at Charming, Just Charming, Catfish, and Mike, who is currently lost in cyberspace... Help!!!

Took Me Long Enough

Well, I finally did it! Catfish has been telling me for quite a while to call his daughter, since we live in the same town, and have some of the same interests. I'm sure she was a little surprised to get this phone call more-or-less out of the blue, even though she knew he'd told me to call...
She seems very nice - we didn't talk long, 'cause she and her kids were getting ready to go shopping, and my kids and I need to get ready to go out, too, but we exchanged e-mail addresses, and we'll get to know each other that way, maybe even get together somewhere along the way, and go from there. So thanks, Cat! It's always nice to build new friendships. :-)

Where Does The Time Go?

Wow! It's been 10 days since my last post...
Guess that's not really a big deal, since there are only 1 or 2 people who read this thing anyway.
Been busy playing my game, and just living in general.
Had to get my car battery replaced today. Thank goodness there are people who do that stuff for ya! I like messing with computer parts, but not car parts!
My youngest daughter is going to be getting braces soon, so that's another new experience for us.
What else is new? Nothing really, just working on doing the Christmas stuff, and making (small) changes around the house. Babysteps. Declutter here, rearrange there, clean up around there, etc.
And there are several people I'm supposed to call (I haven't forgotten about your daughter, Cat!), and haven't done it yet - I really suck at keeping in touch by anything other than e-mail...
BUT, one thing at a time. I'm slowly getting things done, so I'll catch up eventually. :-)

I hope everyone has a lovely Thanksgiving weekend! Eat lots of good stuff!

Today is Veteran's Day

Thank you to all those past and present who have spent time in the military, fighting for (or willing to fight for), or supporting freedom. Thanks as well to their loved ones, and the sacrifices they make (or made) every day in support of their soldiers. We live free because of all of you.

Thank you

Couldn't Have Said It Better Myself !

Okay, a while back I mentioned that I've been busy playing Guild Wars online. Awesome game.
Well, here's a game review from Across the Pond that explains it all quite nicely. You should read the whole thing, but here's a little excerpt of the end of the review, where the writer, Kieron Gillen, sums it up for you:

"In other words, it's the Fantasy Online RPG where actual skill and intelligence matters more than mere persistence. Which is a rare case of what a developer promised in pre-release hype actually being what appears in the game. Lummee.

So this is an Online RPG for virtually anyone. The array of character builds and focus on warring guilds makes it a dream for those who enjoy online rucks. The more off-line adventurer has a huge world and extensive plot to fight their way through. The more traditional MMO player can bounce between either pole, perhaps grumbling that there's not as much continuous content as they're used to, but sated by not having to pay any kind of subscription just to be there. And the single-payment model encourages anyone to give it a try. At its core, Guild Wars is a game which has realised that a massively-multiplayer online game can be an online game and not a world. Purists will sneer at it. And I'll be sneering right back at them, the killjoys.

And getting back to it, it's my favourite game of the year so far."

Yeah. What he said.

Tuesday Critter Showcase

Our Zoo has a butterfly aviary during the warm season. It's got several different kinds of butterflies, and also lots of exotic tropical plants. Very pretty. There's a life cycle box, too, with eggs & various stages of chrysalis in them, so you can even see a new butterfly emerge. Pretty cool. I don't remember all the kinds they had, but there were monarchs & painted ladies, and this kind, which I want to call a tiger swallowtail, but I don't think that's right...
In the plants, they had lots of different orchids, and Chinese Lantern maples and just gorgeous stuff. It's a lovely place to walk through and enjoy. Relaxing. Except for the high humidity, but that's necessary for the plants & the butterflies. It's worth it, though.
If your zoo has a butterfly garden, go check it out. :-)

Tuesday Critter Showcase

Does anyone know what this guy is? I don't remember, but he's cool. Looks like a cross between an eagle & an ostrich!
